Vista Azul is an awe-inspiring hilltop luxury villa located on the slopes above Chaweng Noi. And it’s as much a modern day designer mansion as it is a holiday villa with panoramic views that both exhilarate and soothe. Gleaming walls and white tiled floors throughout give an even greater sense of space and expanse and the contemporary design and attention to detail in every room will leave you enthralled and eager to explore. Less than 10 minutes from the nearest beach and restaurants Vista Azul’s proximity to local amenities is certainly convenient. However, it’s also very private and exclusive. And as you enter the villa grounds you are surrounded by verdant greenery, soaring bamboo plants, coconut trees and huge granite boulders. They are a sight to behold and the garden has been landscaped to incorporate all the natural, wonderous elements that Koh Samui has to offer. Walking onto the pool terrace is an eye-opener. The elevated views are spectacular and you can easily see the tiny island of Koh Matlam in Chaweng bay directly in front of you; Chaweng Lake in the interior; just beyond that, the small islets of Koh Som; and the towering hills of Koh Pha Ngan in the distance. It’s a vista you will never grow tired of, nor of watching the ocean change colour in the morning as the sun arcs across the sky. Undoubtedly much of your time will be spent outdoors and the terrace around the 18 metre infinity pool has plenty of space to relax. There are sunbeds with umbrellas, beanbags, cushioned outdoor chairs and a covered sala with an outdoor dining table and chairs. Next to that is a large modern barbecue for keen al fresco chefs and there is a nearby washroom. Inside the main part of the villa is the open-plan guest kitchen, dining area and lounge. There is also a separate Thai food kitchen to the side for the chef to prepare aromatic meals without disturbing you. Regardless of where you sit inside you always have that glorious view. And the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors allow for both a picture perfect setting and a cooling breeze. To one side is an indoor dining table with 12 chairs and a breakfast bar with stools. There is a modern European-style guest kitchen with all the mod cons and a great coffee machine. And on the other side of the room is a sunken lounge area with a large wall-mounted TV, long, comfortable sofas and there is an excellent sound system for indoor and outdoor use. Great care and meticulous consideration has also gone into the décor and all around the villa your will see intriguing and thought-provoking ornaments, adornments and antiques. The villa has 6 double en-suite, fully air-conditioned bedrooms plus a children’s room next to one of the doubles making it an ideal family suite. And above the lounge area, up a set of stairs with a transparent glass banister, are those two family rooms. The main double en-suite has an ocean-facing, king-size bed, two over-sized wardrobes, a wall mounted television and floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors that lead onto a wonderful balcony with cushioned seating. It’s a fabulous spot for some privacy, reading a book or simply enjoying the view. The en-suite is almost as big as the bedroom, it’s open-plan with double sinks, a powerful shower, toilet and a large bathtub with those fantastic views again – and don’t worry, no-one can see in and there are blinds that can be drawn. The children’s room is next door and it can accommodate one or two single beds plus enough room for children to play in as well. Adjacent to the main part of the villa with direct access to the pool terrace is the master suite. It’s expansive, ocean-facing and very colourfully decorated. Along with a king-size bed, there is a walk-in closet, a safe, a huge amount of space for clothes, colourful comfy chairs, a large TV screen and floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading onto a balcony that joins onto the terrace. There is also a large open-plan bathroom with a bathtub, double sink, rain shower and toilet. This is a very bright, cheerful bedroom and one you will be reluctant to leave! Down a flight of stairs from the terrace are bedrooms three and four. Both are large, ocean-facing double en-suite rooms with balconies, TVs, a safe, lots of storage space, an elegant open-plan bathroom and they are both very tastefully decorated. The bedroom on the left has a beautiful print on the wall of butterflies and if you have an interest in lepidopterology there are around 350 species of butterflies found on Samui including the very rare Adamson’s Rose butterfly. It was only described in 2006 based on a specimen collected at Hin Lad Waterfall on the west of the island. On the same level as bedrooms three and four is the Spa Room which has two massage beds and overlooks a small walled-in garden and the ocean. Your villa manager can easily arrange for a spa therapist to visit the villa whenever you wish. Just below the Spa Room is a Cigar Lounge with a packed humidor. The room is open with ocean views and it has wonderful antique armchairs, a range of books and an old fashioned ‘wireless’. That’s an antique radio and not a form of internet connection or laptop mouse! It has four dials for tuning and is listed across the bandwidth with the names of French cities. This wireless must have a fascinating history. Along the corridor from the Cigar Lounge there is a wine cavern and opposite that are bedrooms five and six. Both are ocean-facing and bedroom five also has a private balcony, they are each spacious with well-appointed furnishings and open-plan bathrooms with showers, sinks and toilets. And next to these bedrooms is the fitness room which has a running machine, cycling machine, free weights plus air-conditioning, a very good sound system and ocean views. The villa has private parking and your villa manager can arrange car hire or taxis for you. There are also CCTV cameras for your security, excellent WiFi throughout and the villa is fully staffed every day. Vista Azul is ideal in so many ways and is a truly luxurious, modern villa with exceptional views of the surrounding scenery, the ocean and the bays around Chaweng. Perfect for family groups and special celebrations, Vista Azul is a hidden treasure that lies in plain sight – if you know where to look.
